Heather Ireland is a visionary artist from Torrance, CA. Her work transports emotion to a world beyond with a delicate dance of a paintbrush. She is a trained fine artist and uses a traditional approach to oil, acrylic, and watercolor to create vivid realms of color.

Heather studied Scenic Painting and earned her BFA in Set Design from Depaul University in Chicago, IL. Shaping environments and conjuring layers of color is her forté. Her works delighted audiences and received notable recognition for their transformative elements and use of color.
She transitioned out of theatre in 2009 and guided her focus toward Interior Design and of course, painting. As a child she gravitated to the easel at preschool and never left. While studying Set Design and working at Interior Design firms she continued her practice as an exhibiting artist and live painter at many Los Angeles events.

She has been a featured artist at Ego Gallery, The Hive Galllery, Garage Gallery LA, as well as group exibitions such as Art Battle, RAW Artists, Pankakes and Booze, The Chocolare Art Show and many more. She has worked for interior designers in Venice Beach, West LA, and Manhattan Beach creating custom works for client projects. As a trained scenic artist, Heather can recreate a variety of styles based on the client’s inspiration or need.

I draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including personal experiences, emotions, nature, music, and other forms of art. I love learning new mediums and am a total art nerd that experiments with different materials, techniques, and processes to explore new ideas and create unique visual expressions.

I use a wide range of materials, depending on the subject matter and overall “vibe” of the project. Common materials include acrylic or oil paints, brushes, palette knives, charcoal, pastels, ink, collage elements, and various types of paper or canvas.

What is abstract art?

bstract art is a style of visual art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality. Instead, it uses shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect. It often emphasizes the expressive and emotional qualities of art rather than the representation of recognizable objects or scenes.

How can I understand and appreciate abstract art better?

Understanding and appreciating abstract art can be a subjective and personal experience. It can be helpful to approach abstract art with an open mind, allowing yourself to explore the artwork's colors, shapes, textures, and overall composition.

What is the meaning behind abstract art?

The meaning behind abstract art can vary greatly depending on the artist and the viewer's interpretation. I tend to lean on “dealer’s choice” as art has a very instinctual experience to the viewer. My interpretation may be a tiny stone to the river of posibilities of its reach. Abstract art often encourages individual perception and emotional response, allowing viewers to engage with the artwork on a personal level. It can evoke a range of emotions, spark imagination, or simply be appreciated for its aesthetic qualities.
